Untitled (drawing performance) is an exploration in connecting the performative nature of ritualistic and religious prayers with the contemporary and more abstract nature of performance art. The drawing on the right interacts with and manipulates the video performance in real-time, which also warps my mother's Quranic prayer and stretches and distorts it with every stroke/mark. The video combines ideas of ritual practice and artistic inquiry to highlight how any sort of routine practice helped and guided most of us during a period of isolation, in my mothers case it meant reading the Quran daily at a specific time, and for me it was the practice of drawing.
